As the seasons change, so should your makeup! Fall brings cooler temperatures and a shift in natural light, meaning it's the perfect time to update your beauty routine.
Whether you're already a makeup pro or just looking to freshen up your look, here are 4 simple tips to transition your makeup from summer to fall effortlessly. These tips are perfect for women 50+ who want to enhance their glow and embrace the beauty of the season.
1. Make Sure You're Using the Correct Foundation Shade
As your summer tan starts to fade, it’s essential to check your foundation. A shade that worked perfectly for you in July may look a little off in September. The wrong foundation shade can enhance texture and highlight fine lines and wrinkles. The right foundation is key to evening out your complexion, so don’t be afraid to switch to a lighter or more neutral shade as your skin tone changes.
Always remember, a well-matched foundation will keep your skin looking fresh and flawless throughout the fall season. And cream foundation is best for mature skin. It's hydrating, easy to blend, and very forgiving!
2. Use a Bolder Blush
Fall is the time to embrace richer, deeper colors. I recommend using a bolder blush like Sandstone. It adds the perfect flush of color that complements the season's warmer tones. Plus, it works beautifully on both the cheeks and the lips!
For an extra glow, I add a touch of Rose Gold Illuminator above my cheek color and on the apples of my cheeks, as well as a pop on the center of my lips. This simple addition brings out a beautiful dewiness that's perfect for fall.
3. Shimmery Fall-Colored Eyeshadow
The right eyeshadow can totally transform your look. For fall, I love using a medium brown shade with a touch of shimmer. My go-to color is Foxy. It’s the perfect fall shade with just the right amount of shine. A quick sweep across your lids instantly gives you that warm, autumnal vibe. If you’re a fan of shimmer but don’t want it to be overwhelming, Foxy is the perfect balance! Plus, you can apply it with your finger. You don't even need a brush!
4. Use a Cream Bronzer for Year-Round Glow
Just because the sun isn’t as strong doesn’t mean you have to lose that summer glow. A cream bronzer adds warmth and dimension to your face, giving you a beautiful, sun-kissed look all year long. I love using it to add depth to my makeup, and it’s especially flattering on mature skin. The added benefit? A cream bronzer gives your skin a healthy, hydrated appearance, which is ideal as the weather starts to cool.
I also add cream bronzer above the crease on my eyes to lift and open. Bronzer mimics our natural skin tone so it makes a beautiful eyeshadow. And bronzer is perfect for lining the lips too! It's so versatile!
